The book is available unsigned via Amazon

Signed copies can be purchase at:

Founded in 1798, the “President’s Own” U.S. Marine Band is the Nation’s oldest continuously active professional musical organization.  In its long and illustrious existence, there have been 28 Directors of the Band.  Only two names out of the 28 stand alone as the epitome of professionalism, musical acumen, creativity, and leadership…John Phillip Sousa and John R. Bourgeois.  These two men epitomize the excellence that is the trademark of “The President’s Own.”

Colonel Bourgeois has now, through his book, “Play On”, provided America and the World, with an inside look at “The President’s Own” sharing his personal interaction with Presidents, Heads of State, and, most importantly, the American People, during his 17 years as Director.

“Play On” is a must read…not just for music lovers but for all who have enjoyed the pomp, grandeur, and excellence of “The President’s Own.”

    – General Charles C. Krulak, USMC(ret.) 31st Commandant of the Marine Corps
