Timothy Mahr

Timothy Mahr was born on March 20, 1956 in Reedsburg, Wisconsin.  He earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Theory and Composition and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education form St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota.  In 1983 he completed a Master's degree in Trombone Performance at the University of Iowa and then in 1995 a Doctor of Musical Arts in Instrumental Conducting from the same institution.

For three years Mahr taught instrumental music at Milaca High School in Milaca, Minnesota.  Well known as a composer, Mahr is the 1991 American Bandmasters Association Ostwald Award winner for his composition The Soaring Hawk.  Mahr was elected to membership in the American Bandmasters Association in 1993.
